Italian Foodtech: Between Innovation and Sustainability

The sector of Italian foodtech companies is growing strongly, oriented toward innovation and sustainability to meet global challenges. In 2023, 341 companies were registered distributed throughout the country, with a significant concentration in Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Piedmont, Veneto and Lazio. The startups focus primarily on food production and processing, agritech, food service and delivery technologies, and retail and distribution, employing advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and biotechnology. Investment in the sector reached 167 million euros in 2023, highlighting the maturity and dynamism of this area. Italian companies in the foodtech sector are gaining ground, deploying innovations aimed at meeting global challenges. With a focus on sustainability and high technology, these companies are establishing themselves as leaders in the agribusiness landscape, pushing the industry toward a greener and more technologically advanced future.
